Private Yoga Classes

I provide individual yoga sessions for clients who wish to discover customized approaches to the practices of yoga in order to achieve a particular goal. These goals may be physical, emotional, or spiritual in nature, more easily and specifically achieved through a practice designed for an individual.
Sessions are 1.5 to 2 hours for the initial meeting, and follow-up sessions generally last one hour. Students will have a clear prescription of practices, with detailed instructions on how to accomplish regular, safe practice of the recommended poses and breathing exercises. Seated meditation may be part of the practice, if desired and appropriate. People opt for private sessions because of an injury, a wish to address an ongoing limitation, a concern about being in a public class, or the deeper motivation which arises when one has an intelligently formulated, intentionally clear sequence for practice with great likelihood of achieving a desired result.
Yoga has profound psychospiritual benefits, and can be used in concert with psychotherapy to find healing for anxiety and depression; this work is best accomplished in private sessions. Please see the page on Psychotherapy for more information.
At times, individuals enrolled in a general yoga class enhance their practice with individual work. At others times, individual work sustains the practitioner through his or her own daily practice. For those desirous of the healing affects of sangha, or community practice, it can be helpful to transition into general classes where the presence of the group becomes an integral aspect of healing and wholeness.
